Swim, Bike, Run & Smile

 

USA Triathlon All-Americans:

Congratulations to Joanne Gilchrist, Teresa Kludt, and Greg Watkins for earning All-American honors for 2016. USAT awards All-American honors to athletes ranking in the top 10% of their respective age groups nationally. Spring General Meeting:

Thank you to all who came out to the General Meeting at the Madison Bear Garden!

 

Uniforms:

The uniform order is in. Champion Systems will be putting them into production soon. When the orders have arrived, we will let you know how to pick them up. Thank you to the uniform committee, especially the chairperson Janelle for putting the uniforms and orders together. Also, a thank you to Fleet Feet for hosting the samples.

 

Training:

The time change is upon us! Triathlon training season has officially begun!

Swim at One Mile:

The swim at One Mile will resume on after Memorial Day. The swims are typically held Fridays at 7:00 AM

In Motion Swim:

    Heather Martinez at In Motion holds a Tri swim class on Tue. and Thurs. at 9:00 A.M. Contact In Motion for further details.

The River Road TTs:  Will resume in April 2017. The Time Trials are held the first Thursday of the month. First rider goes at 6:01PM. The starting line is where W. 5th Ave turns into River Road (Near the corner of Miller Ave).

Wednesday Night “50” Rides:

The ‘50’ rides have begun for the year!

Fun 50- Meet at 5:30PM- Casual group ride, no drop, good for beginners, NO SPRINTING, no Troxel loop, 15-18mph avg, can have stretches over 20mph

Friendly 50- 5:30PM- Intermediate group ride for experienced riders, 18-20 mph avg, can have stretches in upper 20s

Fit 50- 5:30PM- Strong/faster group ride, can have sprint points, 21-23mph avg, can have stretches near 27-30mph

FAST 50- 6:00PM- Weekly World Championships, fast race ride (Cat 3 level race), several sprint points, 23-26mph avg, can have stretches over 30mph at times

All rides meet at Rosedale School in the front or side parking lots. Finish is on West Sacramento Ave or 5th near the TT start.

 

Decide and Ride:

Sundays, 9am

 

 

 

 

 

 

Where

Decide and Ride monument at One-Mile, Chico CA North side of Sycamore Pool.

The Friday Rides: The rides will resume in the Spring of 2017. This a week-by-week invite ride. Contact Shawn Hughes at amigohughes@ gmail . com if you are interested in the ride.

Runs:Tony English, is leading a LSD run on Sundays from the bathrooms at 5 mile at 8:00 AM. This is an easy pace 60 min. run.

There is also a LSD run on Saturdays meeting at the 5 mile bathrooms at 8:00 AM.

CTC Track Workout: Every Thursday (except the first Thursday, see TT above) meet at the Chico State track at 5:45 PM.

 

Race Results:

This is a shout out to anybody who has participated in a recent race. We would love to hear from you.

Multi-sport event results for CTC members are posted on the Results page of the website. Contact webmaster@chicotriathlonclub.com with any errors or omissions. Please send any information on a race you have participated in. This could be as simple as your name and the name of the event, your results or a race report outlining your personal experience.

 

Athlete of the month:

Please take the time to help us pick the next Athlete of the month. Just send an email to president@chicotriathlonclub.com listing your nomination.

There is no Athlete of the Month for March

Remember: TBF is giving CTC members a 15% discount on all triathlons in the 2017 season. Contact a board member to get the discount code.

 

Volunteer opportunities for 2017:

 

A HUGE Thank You to all of those who who have volunteered, especially those who came out to the Chico Stage Race and Bidwell Classic. The Stage Race would not have been nearly as successful without your efforts. And major props to Shawn Hughes who spent an immense amount of time making sure the event even happened. CTC has such an amazing and generous membership.

Swim, Bike, Run & Smile

 

Spring General Meeting:

March 4th, 2017, 1 PM at the Madison Bear Garden. The Spring Meeting is a great way to relax after the Bidwell Classic and kick off your  triathlon training in 2017.  An agenda will be forthcoming.

 

Uniforms:

The Spring Uniform Store will be opening shortly and fit samples should be arriving soon after. Keep a close eye on the Facebook and Twitter pages for further announcement and a link to the store.

 

Training:

In Motion Swim:

Manny Mejia competed in the Double Duathlon taking 1st in his age group and 3rd overall.

Member discount on Total Body Fitness Racing for 2017

Total Body Fitness Racing puts on some of the best multi-sport races in Northern California. Their events are well managed and extremely fun for athletes of all ages and abilities. CTC has been a presence at TBF races since our inception and many of our members did their first triathon at TBF events.
