Happy training for the week of 6/4.
Practice Triathlon at Black Butte Lake: CTC had a great turnout for the practice triathlon at Black Butte Lake on Sunday. Nearly 30 athletes tested out the course with supervised swim, bike, and run events. Everyone also got to practice their transitions, and really got a feel for how things will work on race day. Many helped to make the day a success, but we need to offer special thanks to Sean Molina for overall coordination, Wally Marshall for his swim guidance, Shawn Hughes for bringing his boat and setting up the swim course, and Tom Embree for bringing his kayak and keeping an eye on the swimmers. Pictures (thanks to Tom) of the event have been posted to the Gallery Page of the Website.
Black Butte Volunteers: CTC is supporting the Black Butte Triathlons with racers and volunteers. If you're racing Saturday, please consider volunteering on Sunday. Likewise, if you're racing Sunday, we could use your help on Saturday. We'll be providing direct support to the race as well as manning the CTC tent. Laura Van Dervoort is coordinating the club's volunteers, so please contact her (bikingirl01 at yahoo dot com) with your availability and interest.
Black Butte Roll Call: I am working with the race director to provide reserved bike racks for CTC at this weekend's races but need to know how many members are participating. Please send an email to president@chicotriathlonclub.com to let me know if you're racing, and also let me know which day (mountain, road, or both).
Black Butte Discount: It's still not too late to register for Black Butte. CTC members receive a 15% discount by entering the code “big15d” during online registration.
First Friday Swim Workout a Great Success: We had a great turnout for Wally's first Friday morning swim workout at One Mile. He even said he might need an assistant coach to help with the workouts. Any takers? Meet at 7:00 AM Friday mornings on the north side of the pool. Wetsuits are encouraged and the workouts will continue until Labor Day. No matter your skill level, Wally will provide a workout, watch you swim, and give you some tips to improve your stroke.
Tri Suits have Arrived: The Tri Suits are in. If you ordered a tri suit and have not yet received it, please contact Sean Molina (training@chicotraithlonclub.com) to arrange pickup.
