Happy training for the week of 9/9.
Tinman: We had our usual strong turnout for Tinamn again this year, with 17 racers and several more family members and spectators. Participants included Greg W., Bryan S., Nathan B., David W., Al M., Jim P., Jeriamee L., Dina R., Tammie W., Becky H., Karen E., Tony E., Elda M., Alyson D., Laura V., Victoria U., and Shawn H. The organizers were once again grateful for the support CTC gives their event. There were some crazy IMLT training rides before the race, lots of good competition (and podium results) on the course, and plenty of pie to go around at the Blackberry Music Festival after the race. Condos are already booked for next year, so mark your calendars for the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. CTC member results have been posted to the Results page of the website.
More Races: The English family was at it again this past weekend, with Tony and Maya English racing the SuperMAN and SuperKIDS triathlons respectively. Results have been posted to the Results page of the website.
Ironman Lake Tahoe: Ironman Lake Tahoe takes place on Sunday September 22nd and will feature five CTC members stepping up to the Ironman distance (Blake Anderson, Rick Ellison, Bryan Slinkard, Justin Waller, and Greg Watkins). Many more members will be traveling to Tahoe to volunteer and/or spectate. New this year, the Ironman organizers have started a tri club program, with special benefits for those who are members of tri clubs. They are setting up a Tri Club Village that's on the run course very close to the finish line. Clubs can set up their pop-ups and use it as a base for their members who are racing, volunteering, or spectating. They are also planning a post race club-only beer garden with chili (veggie and meat) from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The village will be set up at Squaw Valley beginning Saturday after the Ironkids races. The club coordinator has asked for an RSVP so they can be sure to have enough chili and beer on hand. I have already sent them the names of the racers, but would like to get a head count of others who are planning to be there. So if you're heading to Tahoe, please send an email to president@chicotriahtlonclub.com with the following information: Who's coming, where and what nights you are staying, and whether or not you plan to be at the Tri Club Village on race day. Once I have all the information, I'll send out a summary just to that group in case anyone wants to connect ahead of time. Please let me know by Friday 9/13.
Golden State Triathlon: This race has become a bit of a tradition for several CTC members as a final race to wrap up the season. It's a draft-legal event with sprint and super sprint distances, and is held at Discovery Park in downtown Sacramento on October 13th. The draft-legal format is unique for age group racing, and the post-race beer garden is well known. Registration is $90 up until race day.
